As you can see, I have decided to start a blog. I know, I know. Blogs may seem like a thing of the past to most people, but hear me out. I wanted to start a blog as a way to share all of my sewing and quilting adventures with the world. I wanted another platform to share my projects on, to document them, while also teaching and encouraging others to sew and create too! I plan on using this blog not only share my finished work, but to share quilt patterns, sewing and quilting tips, and fun tutorials! So be sure to subscribe to my blog so you don't miss a thing! So... I think it is pretty mandatory to start this first blog post off with an introduction. So here it goes...
My name is Katie Prescott. I am a thirty-something wife and mama to three kiddos. We live in Tooele, Utah and love it. I am currently a stay-at-home mom and it is the best "job" I have ever had. It is also the hardest "job" I have ever had. But I wouldn't change a thing. Being a mother was the only thing I truly wanted to be "when I grew up" and I am so blessed I am living my dream. My other dream would be to own and run a Quilt Store, but that seems a bit far off so I have been doing the next best thing. I create, sew, and sell my creations in my shop on Etsy. My Etsy shop is Sewing Miss Kate and it has been opened since 2014. I make and sell banners, buntings, and garlands for your home and parties and just recently added fabric to the mix. And yes. Banners, buntings, and garlands are all different things. More on that later.
I thought it would be fun to get to know me by sharing 10 random facts about me:
1. I love tomatoes. Have my whole life. I even cleaned my room when I was little just so I could get my own crate of them.
2. I started sewing when I was 8 years old and received my very own sewing machine for my 8th birthday.
3. My mom taught me how to sew and quilt.
4. My drink of choice will always be an ice cold Coca-Cola. It is all I need when I am tired or having a bad day.
5. That brings me to dessert. Donuts forever. It is also all I need when having a bad day.
6. I grew up riding dirt bikes, wave runners and jet skis.
7. I am currently obsessed with home decor. The farmhouse style is my favorite. And I love old, antique items and want to collect more.
8. Sewing and quilting is therapy for me and relieves stress.
9. I love to organize, but hate to clean.
10. I am a perfectionist and it drives me crazy!
